Hi, I am Heather
There are many roles I hold, but the one that guides everything I do is this — I believe that mothers matter deeply.
Becoming a mother changed everything for me-which it is meant to-but I was uneducated and unprepared for the ways it changes you. Like so many, I had focused so much on the birth and gave little thought to what would come after. I had no idea that postpartum would unravel me—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—leaving me to slowly piece myself back together. That’s when I began learning about postpartum care, seeking out support, and discovering others who honoured this time as sacred. When I found postpartum doulas and the deeply nurturing work they do—I knew I wanted to be part of that world.
The support offered to new mothers is often limited—there’s so much focus on the baby, but very little on the woman who just gave birth. Mothers need just as much care, attention, and nurturing as their new-borns. I became a doula to be part of a community that’s placing the mother back at the centre of postpartum care.
I live in Surrey with my husband and daughter, and I’m here to remind you: you matter, too.
